The night before my departure I received a call from my congresswoman, U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, who had heard I was in Israel. We discussed our plans to get home, and she assured me that if anything changed, I should call her immediately. She followed up with a text when I was at the Tel Aviv airport, and we exchanged texts when I landed in Los Angeles.
