Congresswoman Bonamici Accepting Entries for 2017 Congressional Art Competition
BEAVERTON, OR [03/29/17] – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) is now accepting submissions for the 2017 Congressional Art Competition.
The competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside in or attend high school in Oregon’s First Congressional District, which includes Washington, Yamhill, Clatsop, and Columbia Counties as well as part of Multnomah County. A panel of local artists will select the winner, and the winner’s artwork will be publicly displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol Building. Additionally, the winning artist will receive two free plane tickets to travel to Washington, DC for an award ceremony in June.
“Every year I’m inspired by the artwork created by high school students from Oregon’s First District,” said Congresswoman Bonamici. “Through art students express their unique perspectives, world views, dreams, aspirations, and fears. Each piece tell a story. These exceptional young artists and their work reinforce the value of arts in our communities. I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions, and sharing the winner’s work with visitors to the U.S. Capitol Building.”
