Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley and U.S. Reps. Peter DeFazio, Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici said today that federal officials have notified them that eight Oregon counties will get assistance for removing and disposing hazardous materials and solid waste debris as part of response and recovery to the wildfires.

Bonamici: "We are now forced to reckon with the grave reality that the President of the United States directly incited an attack on our government and country, and he must be held accountable. He is wholly unfit for office and must never be able to serve in government again. I commend my colleagues, Representatives Cicilline, Lieu, and Raskin, for drafting this resolution of impeachment.
In a statement, Bonamici said, "Our country and our Capitol have suffered a devastating attack in the past week, and the President's role in inciting the violence we experienced has left us no choice but to impeach him."
Suzanne Bonamici, a Democrat representing Oregon’s First Congressional District, voted in favor.
Oregon has four Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives: Reps. Suzanne Bonamici, Earl Blumenauer, Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader. All four voted to impeach.
Oregon’s U.S. senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, have both called for Trump’s removal from office, as have U.S. Reps. Earl Blumenauer, Suzanne Bonamici and Peter DeFazio, all Democrats. U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader, also a Democrat, announced on Jan. 9 that he would support impeachment. A day earlier, he publicly apologized for comparing impeachment to a lynching during a Congressional call.
The amendment is not the only way to end Trump’s time in office before his term expires. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, a Democrat from Oregon’s First District, tweeted Thursday afternoon that she’s in favor of another route for removal: “I support impeaching Donald Trump. Again.”

The amendment is not the only way to end Trump’s time in office before his term expires. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, a Democrat from Beaverton, said in a tweet that she supported impeaching Donald Trump.
"Comparing a lynching to holding the President accountable is hurtful and insensitive and ignores the overt white supremacy on display during the insurrection Wednesday,” Bonamici said, according to OPB.
More than 100 members of Congress, almost exclusively Democrats, are calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office after a violent mob of his supporters breached the U.S. Capitol hours after he spurred supporters to stand up for him amid his baseless claims that the election was stolen from him.
