Bonamici: Governing By Crisis Must End

October 1, 2013
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today released the following statement about the decision made by House leadership to amend the Senate-passed continuing resolution and delay full implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

“With just over 48 hours remaining before the budget expires, I am disappointed that the House leadership is once again bringing up legislation to delay the Affordable Care Act rather than working on a bipartisan solution to keep our government open that can pass both the House and Senate. Governing by crisis must end.  I recently held four town hall meetings where constituents from across the district and political spectrum asked that Congress work together to prevent a government shutdown and return our focus to growing jobs and strengthening the economy.

“The Senate will not pass this funding bill and the President will not sign it. We must not let an intransigent minority stop the efforts of a bipartisan majority to keep the government open and serving its citizens.”
