Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici Announces Appointment to Budget, Science Committees
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici was appointed to two Committees in the U.S. House of Representatives; the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
“These Committees address crucial issues for Oregon’s First Congressional District and our entire nation,” said Bonamici, “I share the priority of Oregonians who want us to use our resources wisely to put people back to work and keep our economy growing.”
“Investing in America is a key step toward securing our economic future. As we begin the important debate about the fiscal year 2013 budget, I will be a voice for fiscal responsibility and an advocate for new opportunities for economic growth and education. At the same time, I will work to keep our promise on Medicare and Social Security. ”
The House Committee on the Budget is considered one of the more influential Committees in Congress, responsible for setting spending authority for each of the Appropriations Subcommittees that determine federal spending each year.
“The technology industry drives economic growth in our region and creates good jobs across sectors,” added Bonamici. “I am eager to work with my colleagues on the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to ensure that the federal government continues to support innovation, bolstering our competitiveness in the evolving world marketplace.”
The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has jurisdiction over all federal non-military research and development.
