Bonamici Votes to Protect Reproductive Freedom

September 24, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC [9/24/21] – Today Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) joined the House in passing the Women's Health Protection Act to counter the wave of anti-abortion laws in Texas and across the country.

The Women's Health Protection Act will safeguard the right to an abortion found in Roe v. Wade and prohibit state laws that restrict reproductive freedom or attack abortion services and providers with medically unwarranted restrictions.

Bonamici spoke in support of the legislation on the House floor. Video of her remarks can be found here.

"The repeated attacks on reproductive rights are reprehensible and must be stopped," said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. "Everyone should have the freedom to choose what is best for their own health and family. It is essential that everyone have access to health care, including abortion services, that is free from political interference. I will continue to do all I can to protect reproductive freedom and I urge the Senate to quickly pass the Women's Health Protection Act."

Bonamici is a strong advocate for reproductive freedom and has repeatedly called for the House and Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act.
