The House green infrastructure plan

June 23, 2020

House Democratic leaders on Monday unveiled the text of a broad $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill that includes billions for clean energy and clean water. "Those who don't believe in climate change, tough luck," Transportation Chair Peter DeFazio said when announcing the bill last week. "We're going to deal with it."

OCEAN EYED: Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) and Don Young (R-Alaska), co-chairs of the House Oceans Caucus, are calling for "robust" federal investments to help coastal communities and the blue economy as part of any economic recovery package. The pair led a bipartisan letter to House leadership with 64 lawmakers that calls for $10 billion in coastal restoration and resilience programs modeled by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009 and the establishment of a National Coastal Resilience Fund and Resiliency and Habitat Grant Program to distribute the majority of the funds within 60 days of enactment.
