Jayapal, Blumenauer and Bonamici promote Medicare for All
May 13, 2019
Three Democratic members of Congress, two from Oregon and one from Washington, made the case for Medicare for All on Saturday in Portland.
About 200 people attended the "Medicare for All Speak Out" event at Benson High School, which featured U.S. Reps. Earl Blumenauer of Portland, Suzanne Bonamici of Beaverton and Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Seattle.
Jayapal is the lead sponsor of the Medicare for All Act of 2019 and Blumenauer and Bonamici are cosponsors. The ambitious proposal would transition the U.S. to a single-payer health care system for all Americans in about two years.
