More small towns report issues with mail service
More people are sharing their mail problems with KATU News.
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Oregon, represents parts of the Portland metro area, including Banks. She said the post office is an invaluable service, especially in rural areas, and invites anyone with problems to contact her office in Beaverton.
“Often times, if it's a federal agency, or something like the post office, sometimes we can get involved and see if we can sort things out,” Bonamici said. “The post office is the only entity that has to pre-fund its pension. So there has been a tax on the post office over the years. We need to sort all that out and make sure our post office can do the job that it is intended to do and make sure people get their mail on time.”
