Oregon, other state leaders introduce legislation to block federal officers

July 20, 2020

Oregon leaders and other state leaders are seeking to block the Trump administration from deploying federal officers in U.S. cities.

From Oregon, U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden and Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici had previously written a letter to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice seeking to remove federal officers from Portland.

Now, other state leaders including Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) have joined them to introduce legislation to officially block it.
