Oregon Senator Merkley denounces actions of federal officers

On Monday, Oregon leaders, including Jeff Merkley, introduced new legislation in order to block the Trump administration from deploying federal officers in U.S. cities.

Senators Merkley and Ron Wyden, Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici and now joined by Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) in introducing the new legislation.

KATU News spoke to Merkley on Monday afternoon to ask him about his legislation, his opinion of the federal officers, how they are identified and how he hopes local law enforcement should handle the ongoing protests in Portland.
