Rep. Bonamici honored by national organization for her children advocacy efforts

Bonamici was honored with the National Parent Teacher Association’s 2023 Congressional Voice for Children Award, alongside Sen. Mitt Romney, for their efforts in Congress to advance topics and bills related to school-aged children.

“I spent more than 15 years as an active volunteer in public education, working closely with teachers, families and school leaders — so this award is particularly special,” Bonamici said in the press release. “Family involvement and collaboration help students thrive, and I am committed to improving the ability of parents from all backgrounds to authentically engage with their child’s public schools. I look forward to continuing our partnership to make public schools more equitable, inclusive and supportive for each and every student and family.”
