A federal judge rejected a request by Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to bar federal officers from engaging in "unconstitutional police state-type tactics," finding Rosenblum presented scant evidence and lacked standing.

U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer of Portland called the enhanced use of officers a "manufactured crisis from the federal government'' that deliberately made encounters worse. Blumenauer apologized to Pettibone for what he experienced.

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici of Washington County said the federal actions in Portland "set a terrifying precedent'' for what "could happen nationwide." She said lawmakers are working to use the appropriations process to "prohibit what we saw in Portland."
