Bonamici Opposes Anti-women, Anti-choice Legislative Attacks
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) released the following statement in response to the passage of two bills to limit access to reproductive healthcare.
“The passage today of two bills that will seriously limit women’s access to reproductive healthcare is deeply troubling. The U.S. House of Representatives should be working to create jobs, address national security, and pass a budget, not turn back the clock on women’s rights. It is irresponsible to spend limited debate time on policies that will hurt women and working families.
“H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, and H.R. 3504, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, are politically motivated attacks that have the potential to leave women and men across the country without access to vital preventive health services. There is no evidence that Planned Parenthood has broken any laws. Congress should focus on expanding access to a full range of reproductive healthcare, not making it harder for Americans to obtain access to contraception and affordable, high-quality care.
“I will continue to stand with Planned Parenthood, and more importantly, the millions of women and men who receive compassionate, preventive care at Planned Parenthood’s facilities.”
