Congresswoman Bonamici Accepting Entries for 2019 Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON, D.C. [02/22/19] – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) is now accepting submissions for the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.
The competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside in or attend high school in Oregon’s First Congressional District, which includes Washington, Yamhill, Clatsop, and Columbia Counties as well as part of Multnomah County. A panel of local artists will select the winner, and the winner’s artwork will be publicly displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol Building. Additionally, the winning artist will receive two free plane tickets to travel to Washington, D.C. for an award ceremony in May.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity for high school students to share their talents with people who visit the U.S. Capitol from all over the world,” said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. “I am continually inspired by the passion and creativity that shines through the artwork students submit. The arts play an important role in well-rounded education and we should be doing all we can to encourage students to develop their talents, which will greatly benefit them in whatever career path they choose to pursue.”
Students in Oregon’s First Congressional District who are interested in participating can find more information by visiting bonamici.house.gov/art-competition. The deadline for submissions is April 26, 2019.
