Rep. Bonamici Statement to Commemorate Veterans Day

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) released the following statement in commemoration of Veterans Day.

“Veterans Day is a time to reflect on and appreciate the millions of men and women who served all over the world and fought in battles to secure the freedom we continue to enjoy. Our veterans served this country bravely, and America is stronger because of their courage and sacrifice. We honor and thank them for their service, and we recommit to the enduring promise that the United States makes to all veterans: that they have the support they need to succeed after their service ends.

“This Veterans Day marks the 70th anniversary of the GI Bill, which has been supporting military families for decades. It has propelled service members into the middle class by helping them get an education, buy homes, and build their lives. The GI Bill is a powerful example of how investing in our veterans is an investment in the success of the United States. We must continue to support our veterans so that none struggle to find a job, a place to live, or to access their benefits. Today we honor their service, but we also recognize the importance of our duty to them.”
