Rep. Bonamici Statement on Final Passage of Homeland Security Funding Bill

March 3, 2015

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the fiscal year.

“I am glad that the House was able to restore stability and certainty to the Department of Homeland Security by passing a funding bill through the fiscal year. The passage of this bill means our country will be protected and hundreds of thousands of DHS employees will be paid for their important work.

“Congress should address immigration reform, but not by threatening the day-to-day operations of the department that includes TSA agents, border patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard. With the passage of this bill I am hopeful we can now focus on passing substantive immigration legislation.”
