Bonamici Statement on Securing Funding to Fight Coronavirus

Fighting the coronavirus requires all of us coming together. Over the past several days I've spoken with health officials, leaders, and workers across NW Oregon about how Congress can help. Every one emphasized the need for immediate and robust funding.
I spoke with my colleagues about these concerns and am pleased to share that today the House passed a robust funding package that will provide our communities with resources for the strongest possible response to this public health crisis.
The $8.3 billion in new funding will:
• Strengthen the response of state and local health agencies
• Accelerate the research and development of affordable vaccines & tests
• Help small businesses hurt by the outbreak
I will continue advocating for the resources our community needs to stay healthy and contain the spread of the coronavirus as much as possible. Helpful resources and tips for how to avoid COVID-19 are available on my website.
