Bonamici Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Anti-LGBTQ Workplace Discrimination

Discrimination is wrong, and no one should have to fear for their job because of who they are. Today the Supreme Court affirmed that LGBTQ individuals are protected from discrimination on the job, and cannot be fired for being gay or transgender. I join the LGBTQ community in celebrating this landmark decision. But our work is not over, and I will not stop fighting for equal rights for the LGBTQ community. Now that the Supreme Court has spoken, I renew my call for the Senate to swiftly pass H.R. 5, the Equality Act, so LGBTQ individuals are protected from discrimination in all areas of the law.
