“We want to be clear: our concerns with the implementation do not arise from any hesitation about pursuing ambitious, comprehensive policies to protect critical habitat for endangered species,” Bonamici, an Oregon Democrat who represents the North Coast, and other members of the Oregon delegation wrote. “It is the role of government to craft and implement responsible policy that follows the science, but it’s also important to fully resource the changes that must be made.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today U.S. Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-1), Joaquin Castro (D-TX-20), Sara Jacobs (D-CA-51), and Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ-11) and U.S. Senators Tim Kaine, Bob Casey (D-PA), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led a bicameral group of 100 lawmakers in writing to congressional leadership reaffirming their support for robust funding for child care in the final Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 funding legislation.
Native American Heritage Month is coming to a close and the Portland Art Museum is continuing the celebration.
On Sunday they offered free admission and special programs to celebrate their exhibition of artwork from Native American artist Jeffrey Gibson.
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and Senator Ron Wyden were in attendance and spoke during a ceremony highlighting the museum’s celebration.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Oregon, whose congressional district includes St. Helens, put out a statement Friday reading in part:
"The allegations that have been made to date reveal an alarming pattern and all those involved in the failures that have led to this crisis must be held accountable for their actions and for the harm caused by their actions. As a senior member of the Education and Workforce committee, a parent, a policymaker, and an Oregonian, I will assist and support the community.”
“My D.C. team and I were able to go to the giant room at the Library of Congress where they have the surplus books and pick out several books for the students here and bring them back to Oregon,” Bonamici added. “It’s important because the more access students have to books, and lots of books, and diverse books, the more they will learn and we’ll be able to reach every student.”
