Beaverton, OR – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici’s office is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition.

The competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside or attend high school in Oregon’s 1st Congressional District. A panel of local artists will select the winner, and his or her artwork will be publicly displayed on Capitol Hill for one year.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the fiscal year.

“I am glad that the House was able to restore stability and certainty to the Department of Homeland Security by passing a funding bill through the fiscal year. The passage of this bill means our country will be protected and hundreds of thousands of DHS employees will be paid for their important work.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) highlighted the bipartisan support for her amendment, which was cosponsored by Rep. Ryan Costello (R-PA) and included in the House’s bill to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

The amendment, a version of Congresswoman Bonamici’s SMART Act, was adopted in H.R. 5, the Student Success Act. It allows states and school districts to use federal resources to eliminate low-quality and redundant tests.
