Two Oregon lawmakers are calling for a federal investigation into the conduct of immigration agents who mistakenly approached a Latino man, demanded his name without identifying themselves and claimed he was in the country illegally.
U.S. Reps. Suzanne Bonamici and Earl Blumenauer said they were "greatly disturbed" by Isidro Andrade-Tafolla's account of what happened after he and his wife left the Washington County Courthouse on Monday morning. PORTLAND, Ore. —

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Rep. Suzanne Bonamici sharply disagreed with Attorney General Jeff Sessions' stance on immigration and sanctuary cities in a live interview on KOIN 6 News at 4.
Bonamici, who is moving through her Oregon district for town halls, said Oregon "realized it is safer when we don't use local and state resources to enforce federal immigration laws. That is ICE's responsibility. We want everyone to participate in the justice system and to feel safe reporting crimes."
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici says she still wants to see comprehensive legislation to deal with the fate of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who entered the country illegally.
But Bonamici also says she's willing to vote for specific protection against deportation of 800,000 young immigrants — known as "dreamers" — who were brought here illegally while they were children.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici will take questions from constituents at a town hall meeting on Sept. 16 at the Jessie Mays Community Center, 30975 N.W. Hillcrest Street, in North Plains.

Oregon legislators are reacting to President Donald Trump's decision to dismantle the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program.
In a statement, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) called the move heartless and shortsighted. He said 11,000 so-called Dreamers in Oregon had strengthened the economy and communities, adding that ending DACA would tear families apart and shake the foundation of local economies.
