Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) today questioned a gap in current federal law that appears to inadequately protect the privacy of medical records of college students.
In a letter sent to the U.S. Department of Education, Congresswoman Bonamici asked for clarification about whether current federal law permits sexual assault victims’ medical and therapy records to be released as part of a student’s education record.
Beaverton, OR – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici’s office is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition.
The competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 who reside or attend high school in Oregon’s 1st Congressional District. A panel of local artists will select the winner, and his or her artwork will be publicly displayed on Capitol Hill for one year.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) highlighted the bipartisan support for her amendment, which was cosponsored by Rep. Ryan Costello (R-PA) and included in the House’s bill to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
The amendment, a version of Congresswoman Bonamici’s SMART Act, was adopted in H.R. 5, the Student Success Act. It allows states and school districts to use federal resources to eliminate low-quality and redundant tests.
