Nearly 100 Democratic lawmakers called on President Trump to back federal climate change initiatives.
In a letter, 96 House members urged Trump to heed warnings included in his administration's national climate assessment released last month, which spoke of the harsh economic repercussions climate change would reap on the U.S.
The following is a series of informational reports concerning the National Climate Assessment.
The first is from the Oregon Health Authority. The second is from Oregon State University and the third is a statement from Oregon U.S. Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici.
Climate parlance like ‘2C threshold' and ‘anthropogenic emissions' hardly stir emotions. But the consequences of these phenomena can easily overwhelm them: One hundred million people projected to lose their lives in the next 11 years due to climate change.

Still, Bonamici said Thursday (Oct. 25) at a Westside Economic Alliance forum, "Our side of the aisle is taking steps that if we are in the majority, we will respect minority rights."
During the past eight years, she said, Republican majorities have rammed through key bills — such as the 2017 tax-code overhaul, which cost $1.5 trillion over 10 years — without consideration for the Democratic minority.
