Health Care
Information regarding my stance on Health Care issues.
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, whose district includes Warrenton, pressed state health officials Tuesday for answers about the outbreak. Saying she was "deeply concerned," Bonamici questioned if the outbreak had been preceded by complaints about the facility and what steps are being taken to maintain physical distancing in worker housing. "This outbreak threatens the health, well-being and economic stability of many Clatsop County residents, including businesses and workers who are afraid of a new wave of closures," Bonamici wrote in a letter to the Oregon Health Authority.
WASHINGTON, DC [09/29/20] – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) requested that the Oregon Health Authority and Pacific Seafood hold a virtual community meeting to provide information and address community concerns about the significant COVID-19 outbreak at Pacific's Warrenton facility that resulted in approximately 100 people testing positive for COVID-19.
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici published a six-part Twitter thread wherein she called on the Senate to "stop the hypocrisy, oppose this [nomination]." "Donald Trump has pledged to appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn #RoeVWade, and Amy Coney Barrett has made clear that, in her opinion, a justice can overturn established precedent if it conflicts with their understanding of the Constitution," said Bonamici in the thread.
Bonamici supported the Delivering for America Act, bipartisan legislation that passed in the U.S. House in August to block changes at the Postal Service made this year and provide $25 billion in funding to the agency. The bill would also require that official election mail be treated as first-class mail.
Wyden said he will work to find bipartisan support to bring the bill to the U.S Senate floor.
"In July, you instructed mail carriers to "leave mail behind at distribution centers" if mail could not be completely distributed without overtime, and you eliminated overtime, which letter carriers typically use to complete mail distribution," wrote Wyden, Merkley, DeFazio, Blumenauer, Bonamici and Schrader. "This needless and reckless change in precedent has already led to delayed delivery of bills, checks and prescription drugs."
