As more people across the country test positive for the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, Oregon leaders are encouraging people to stay calm, take care of themselves and verify information about the virus with government resources.

Rep. Suzanne Bonamici said she is working with Gov. Brown to make sure local groups receive the resources they need.

I am actively monitoring the presumed case and appreciate the efforts of the public health officials who worked to quickly identify the illness and inform the public.

Anger against the pharmaceutical industry is growing. A Gallup poll published in September put the industry at the bottom of the heap among 25 sectors rated annually on their popularity. Nearly 60 percent of respondents said they had a negative view of the industry. People liked government more, with 52 percent seeing bureaucracies in a negative light.
