In a recent Science, Space, and Technology subcommittee hearing about sexual harassment and misconduct, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) stood up for women scientists who have experienced sexual harassment at work. During the hearing, Bonamici referenced a case in which she intervened to assist a fisheries biologist who had been stopped from doing research by pervasive sexual harassment. Bonamici discussed what happened to the biologist and other women in similar situations with the National Oceanic and Administrative Administration (NOAA).

WASHINGTON – Today Congresswomen Karen Bass (D-CA) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) introduced a resolution to raise awareness about the barrage of fraud attempts that seniors face nationwide. The resolution encourages Congress to implement policies to prevent senior scams from happening and to improve protections from these scams. The resolution would also support the designation of May 15, 2018, as "National Senior Fraud Awareness Day".

WASHINGTON – TODAY, the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education (ECESE) held a hearing entitled, "Strengthening Welfare to Work with Child Care." Across the country, far too many working families lack access to affordable, high-quality child care. In many states, the cost of child care is higher than the cost of attending college. This makes it difficult for parents to balance the costs of child care with holding down a good-paying job and providing for their family.
