Earlier in the day, Republicans in the U.S. Senate narrowly approved a procedural move to go forward with a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, bringing Congress one step closer to fulfilling a central campaign promise of President Trump.

An Oregon Congresswoman visited a local fire station on Friday.

Representative Suzanne Bonamici went to the Banks Fire Department District #13.

During the visit, Representative Bonamici toured the station and training ground. She also met with fire personnel and volunteers.

Bonamici also praised the district's fire science high school program and discussed federal grants with Fire Chief Rodney Linz.

Clatsop Community College has secured $8.1 million in state bonds to renovate and expand its maritime-science program.

State Senate Bill 5505 provided $1.3 billion in general obligation and revenue bonds for capital construction projects around the state. The college's bonds will help add a second story and new infrastructure to the main building at the Marine and Environmental Research and Training Station, which houses the maritime-science program.
