Washington, D.C. — Oregon lawmakers praised the passage of Congresswoman Bonamici’s bipartisan Tsunami Warning, Education, and Research Act today, highlighting how the bill will help Oregon’s coastal residents prepare for a tsunami and better protect their lives and property.
Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici released the following statement after being sworn in as a member of the 114th Congress, beginning her second full term as the representative for Oregon’s First Congressional District.
“It’s an honor to return to Washington to represent Northwest Oregon. I am eager to get to work on policies that support working families, increase opportunities for American workers and businesses, strengthen public education, protect our environment, and maintain support systems for seniors and the most vulnerable.

“We should not be passing a funding bill that threatens the well-being of working families and the safety of the American public. Congress should make sure that the government continues to operate, but the bill the House passed today includes multiple provisions that will be harmful to Americans, especially those who are still struggling.
