Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici released the following statement after the Committee on Education and the Workforce passed new student loan counseling legislation.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, praised the passage of the bipartisan Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), saying it will help create more jobs and benefit the economy.
“To strengthen our country's productivity and economic vitality, we need to strengthen our workforce,” Congresswoman Bonamici said. “This legislation invests in American workers through more educational and skills-based training. If we want to see a strong economic recovery, we must put our workers first.”
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici released the following statement regarding the House of Representatives legislation in response to the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby ruling.
“As a member of the Pro-Choice Caucus, I am proud to co-sponsor this legislation to prohibit privately-held corporations from discriminating against women by denying them basic health care coverage. Thousands of women rely on family planning services like birth control. Much like a mammogram, birth control is preventive health care and should be available to all women.”
