More than 100 members of Congress, almost exclusively Democrats, are calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office after a violent mob of his supporters breached the U.S. Capitol hours after he spurred supporters to stand up for him amid his baseless claims that the election was stolen from him.
Other Democrats in Oregon's congressional delegation have also called for Trump's removal. "It's time for him to resign or be removed from office," Rep. Suzanne Bonamici said Wednesday. "This is completely unacceptable that he has encouraged these acts of violence."
Oregon's members of Congress expressed shock and disbelief Wednesday as a mob of violent protestors poured into the U.S. Capitol, forcing Congress and the vice president to flee. "It's like a third-world country," Rep. Suzanne Bonamici told The Oregonian/OregonLive. "Someone has been shot in the Capitol. The Capitol windows have been shot out. It's unbelievable."
Oregon Representative Suzanne Bonamici is joining the list of congressman calling for President Trump to be removed from office, following the storming of the U.S. Capitol by the president's supporters to stop Congress from counting the electoral votes for President-elect Joe Biden.

Among Oregon's nearly all-Democratic delegation, the Electoral College votes were supported by both U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden and U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley. Four of the five Oregon Democratic House members — U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio and U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader — supported the slates brought to the Capitol in thick mahogany boxes.
"Lives were lost, blood was shed, laws were broken," said Oregon Democratic Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, in an interview over zoom with Fox 12. "Donald Trump cannot accept reality that he has lost an election," Bonamici added.
The lack of comparative data from the state makes it hard for the public to get the full grasp of the situation. In a Dec. 17 conference call with Oregon Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Beaverton, superintendents from rural and metropolitan districts shared their struggles with COVID-19 impacts on their ability to provide quality education.
I am currently sheltering in place and safe," Oregon Representative Suzanne Bonamici tweeted.
