WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) announced that Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) will become the new Democratic co-chair of the bipartisan House Career and Technical Education Caucus at the beginning of the 118th Congress. The transition comes as Rep. Langevin -- who has co-led the Caucus for 11 years -- prepares to depart from Congress at the end of the year.
WASHINGTON, D.C. [11/22/22] – Today Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici announced that a team of 8th graders – Nivedha Sathish Kumar, Sahana Muthaiya, and Anusha Jeyakumar – won the 2022 Congressional App Challenge for Oregon’s First Congressional District.
Sathish Kumar and Jeyakumar are students at Stoller Middle School and Muthaiya is a student at Tumwater Middle School.
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D—Oregon, visited Century High School in Hillsboro on Wednesday, Oct. 26 to speak with faculty and students involved in the new Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program.
The program has been in the works for a few years, acting as a career pathway for students to get into manufacturing jobs. They are trained in classrooms at the school, then paired with actual businesses in and around Hillsboro to get on-the-job training over the course of two academic years.
National Endowment for the Arts Chair Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson met with Oregon arts leaders this week to discuss the need for more access to art in the state.
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici organized the listening and learning tour.
"I planned this visit to showcase all of the work that we're doing and also to have a conversation with the community about how we can promote equity, engagement, especially in more rural communities," says Bonamici.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici visited Beaverton's Arts & Communication Magnet Academy, where it all begins for some local artists, as part of a tour of local art programs Wednesday, Oct. 19.
"We started with the youth, started with students who go into making community artists and a creative community," Bonamici said Thursday, Oct. 20.
