Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today released the following statement in opposition to a continuing resolution that would make funding the government through December 15 contingent upon defunding the Affordable Care Act.
“A government shutdown risks an economic slowdown at a time when many Oregon families and small businesses are still struggling. It is essential that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle work together to keep the government open.
Washington, D.C.— Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) has joined with Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) and 17 other Members of Congress in questioning the legal basis for retroactive cuts to federal Secure Rural Schools funds that have already been dispersed. In a letter sent today to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget Jeffrey Zients, the members expressed grave concern about the retroactive cuts. Bonamici also expressed disappointment at Congress for failing to work together to repeal the sequester.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today voted for a U.S. Senate-passed Continuing Resolution (CR) that will prevent a March 27th government shutdown. The measure will fund the government through September 30, 2013. Bonamici expressed disappointment that the bill failed to stop across-the-board sequestration spending cuts initiated by 2011 Budget Control Act.
