U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici secured $19.36 million within the transportation bill to go toward five transportation projects in Northwest Oregon. Bonamici represents Oregon's First Congressional District, which includes Washington, Yamhill, Clatsop and Columbia counties and part of Multnomah County.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici is requesting $902,500 in funding for a landslide mitigation project in Astoria that would help protect a neighborhood from common winter flooding or the Big One — the Cascadia Subduction Earthquake that would impact a 600-mile fault located 70-100 miles off the West Coast of North America.
While a lot of work still needs to be done, Multnomah County's new Behavioral Health Resource Center is coming along. On Tuesday, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury went inside the building, which is located at Southwest Park Avenue and Southwest Oak Street, for a quick tour. County commissioners approved the $26 million center earlier this year.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici is pushing for federal funding to increase resources for small businesses throughout Columbia County. "People still haven't been fully vaccinated. I think this is adding to peoples' concern of going back to work. I think people are concerned about their health," Walsh said. After considering more than 70 applications, Rep. Bonamici is seeking over $2 million through Community Project Funding to expand and maintain the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health clinic in Newberg.
"I'm going to do all I can to advocate for this project," Bonamici told Pamplin Media Group on Thursday, June 3, after meeting with community leaders and representatives from the Oregon Department of Transportation in Aloha.
Reps. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) and Peter Meijer (R-Mich.) introduced a bill that would repeal a tax break for business meals implemented by the Trump administration. The bill would redirect the money—which amounts to more than $5 billion over two years, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation—to the Child Care and Development Fund.
