Seniors
Information regarding my stance on Seniors' issues.
Just days before the end of the August congressional recess, U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici spent part of her Tuesday visiting the Elsie Stuhr Center in Beaverton, then riding shotgun for a Meals on Wheels tour of the area, to meet seniors and to discuss their issues.
When the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes in September, Bonamici said, the stories she gleans from these ride-alongs will help her fight for her primary issues: including services for seniors.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici toured Beaverton on Tuesday with Meals on Wheels, visiting seniors at their homes.
She says the service is crucial for older Americans, and she'll fight to keep it around despite threats of budget cuts from the White House.
She says it's not just about the meals and nutrition, but for many of the seniors it's a chance for social contact and to engage with someone for a little while.
"When we can keep seniors healthy in their homes, it is better for the senior, and it's better for the family, and it's better for the communities," she said.

M. Speaker, I rise today in support of the Senate amendment to H.R. 244, the FY2017 omnibus spending bill. This is not a perfect bill, but many priorities that are important to my constituents in Oregon and people around the country are funded and protected, and it prevents a government shutdown.
