Rural Utilities Service Administrator Andrew Berke, along with Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore), went to the Countryman Estates in Forest Grove, the future site of Habitat for Humanity’s eight planned new homes.
Berke said the USDA has a vested interest in this kind of project and is offering up more than $300,000 to make it happen.
“The extra money gave them financial breathing room. Instead of deciding between rent and child care, school supplies or food on the table, families could cover their immediate needs and think about the future in a positive way,” Bonamici said.
“Working with the Biden administration, Democrats in Congress delivered a policy that truly worked — and worked for those who need it the most. Because it worked, and worked so well, we must bring it back.”
“This is a deliberate attack on the autonomy of patients to make their own decisions with their healthcare providers and with their families,” said U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.). “At the core of the case is the abortion and miscarriage management pill mifepristone — often taken with another drug to end early pregnancy.”
“We know that medical decisions must be based on science, not politics. They must be made by patients, not politicians,” said Bonamici, a Democrat from Beaverton who has been in the House since 2012.
“I am a member of Congress. I signed up to make tough decisions. But one decision I should never make is whether and when someone who is not me should bear a child.”
Oregon has created robust partnerships that are preparing the diverse, better-educated workforce needed to grow our economy from the bottom up and the middle out. It’s a model the rest of the country can follow.
“I’m thrilled that Intel will expand Oregon’s world-class research and development facilities, keeping Hillsboro’s Gordon Moore Park at the forefront of innovation,” Bonamici said. “Importantly, this project will create thousands of sustainable, family-wage jobs.”
Bonamici: “It is critical now that we are implementing this legislation, we get it right this time and we make all of the opportunities available to those who historically have been left behind,” such as good-paying jobs in construction and other fields made available by federal spending on public works, carbon-free energy and semiconductor manufacturing and scientific research.
