Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today testified to a key U.S. House panel about the importance of passing two bills she introduced earlier this year to assist coastal communities with tsunami debris cleanup efforts. The hearing before the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs signals that the legislation is likely to move forward this year.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) this week introduced the Counseling for Career Choice Act to ensure that high school students are made fully aware of their career and education options prior to graduation. The legislation would support the development of comprehensive career counseling programs in school districts across the country.

Beaverton, Ore. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today joined with Handful Sportsbra CEO Jennifer Ferguson to tout her efforts to encourage more companies to relocate manufacturing to the United States. Handful recently announced a decision to “onshore” production, moving manufacturing from China to Oregon. Bonamici’s “Make it in America” efforts are designed to encourage additional companies to take similar action.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today voted to pass the Ruth Moore Act (H.R. 671), legislation she co-sponsored to ease the burden of proof required to prove Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) related to a military sexual assault. Veterans who are partially or fully disabled from an injury suffered while serving in the military are entitled to disability benefits, but approximately two-thirds of sexual assault related claims are rejected by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
