PORTLAND, OR – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition for Oregon’s First District. Harrison Wallace of Portland won the contest with his photograph entitled, “Love in the Third Degree.” Congresswoman Bonamici will host a reception to celebrate Harrison’s winning submission Tuesday evening at her district office in Portland. Members of the community and press are invited to attend.

She started her legal career at the Federal Trade Commission working on consumer lending protections such as truth in lending, equal credit opportunity, fair credit reporting and mortgage fraud.

Today, the entire Oregon congressional delegation wrote to request that President Obama expedite approval of a federal disaster declaration to help communities recover from damage inflicted by severe winter storms that began on January 17.

The declaration was first requested in a February 16 letter from Governor John Kitzhaber to President Obama. That letter was followed up by today’s bipartisan letter to the President.

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici announced that she will soon hold a series of town hall meetings across Oregon’s First Congressional District.

“A critical part of my role in Congress is to be a strong voice for my constituents,” said Bonamici. “I invite all residents to come and share their ideas. By working together, we can find productive and effective ways to face our nation’s challenges.”

The meetings are open to the public and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating. No RSVPs are required.

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici was appointed to two Committees in the U.S. House of Representatives; the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

“These Committees address crucial issues for Oregon’s First Congressional District and our entire nation,” said Bonamici, “I share the priority of Oregonians who want us to use our resources wisely to put people back to work and keep our economy growing.”
