She also said she's pursuing legislation to ensure that the Federal Trade Commission investigates crisis pregnancy centers for false advertising. These centers offer pregnancy testing and counseling while trying to persuade women against abortions. Bonamici called them "fake clinics" that "often mislead people who are seeking accurate information."
Running 273 pages long, there are a lot of specifics in the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law Aug. 16. On Aug. 18, U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) visited Oregon Tradeswomen Inc. to highlight the importance of one of those specifics—a requirement that clean energy projects that receive tax credits provide opportunities for apprentices.

"Millennials and people across the country are starting small businesses and record numbers," she said. "It's exciting to hear their stories. Just yesterday, I sat down with the owners of a local small business who told me that the federal assistance they received during this pandemic kept their doors open and kept 58 people employed, and now they're planning to expand and open another location."
Higher education leaders discussed the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision, which has already led to several states passing strict abortion bans, with U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici during a roundtable discussion at Portland State University on Friday, Aug. 19.
Bonamici, a pro-choice Democrat and alumna of Lane Community College and the University of Oregon, said she shares students' concerns.

"There's a lot of uncertainty right now because of the Supreme Court opinion and laws varying across states, and our colleges and universities and students need clarity," Bonamici said.
As the federal representative for Northwest Oregon and a member of the House Education Committee, I always appreciate and learn from my visits to schools and my conversations with students and educators. So it is deeply concerning that many conservative activists have created a false caricature of the public schools I've known my whole life.
