Jobs and Economy
Information regarding my stance on Jobs and Economy issues.
“When we invest in the creative economy, we see the whole community change,” Bonamici said in a call last week. “My office is in Beaverton at The Round and when the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts opened, it was incredible what that did. Now there are restaurants and gathering spaces and people coming together.”
Bonamici tried to appeal to Republicans by offering a fiscal argument.
“It supports the local economy,” she said, highlighting local theaters in her home state, Oregon, that spread business to shops and restaurants in town. “It really is an economic issue, as well as an issue of what it means to our community to be able to sit together and to laugh and to cry and to ask questions and to be together.”
Oregon has created robust partnerships that are preparing the diverse, better-educated workforce needed to grow our economy from the bottom up and the middle out. It’s a model the rest of the country can follow.
