Rep. Suzanne Bonamici and some of her aides wore work clothes and hard hats, rolled up their sleeves and traveled to McMinnville Aug. 8 to apply muscle and sweat to a new Habitat for Humanity house.

Bonamici's appearance in Yamhill County also included a visit to a family support program operated by Lutheran Community Services as well as Newberg's Anvil Academy.

She was also honored by area hazelnut growers for her work to lower tariffs for the Oregon crop.

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici visited a proposed restoration project Tuesday at South Tongue Point, highlighting the importance of the Pacific Coast Salmon Recovery Fund in aiding local habitat projects.

The Columbia Land Trust recently secured federal and state grants to purchase 90 acres of South Tongue Point. The Columbia River Estuary Study Taskforce will oversee the restoration. Afterwards, the property will be transferred to Clatsop Community College for use as a living laboratory in a new environmental sciences program.

"This morning," Campbell, executive director of the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, recalls of seeing a press release Monday announcing OMIC was awarded a $3 million Department of Commerce grant.

"I found out via press release and via phone call from Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, who has just been phenomenal throughout this process," Campbell says.

Oregon Institute of Technology has received a $3,000,000 grant to retrofit and equip Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center's (OMIC) R&D facility.

Portland, Oregon- A $3 Million grant from the Federal Economic Development Administration was announced by Governor Kate Brown. The funds are going to support a trans-formative project in Northwest Oregon.

The grant will be received by the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center. Representative Suzanne Bonamicci says not only is the increase in technology education and research and development a benefit to the Columbia County region but to all of Oregon.

A new EPA-backed proposal could end up limiting the role science plays in creating public regulations on environmental activity. Back in April, the now ex-head of the EPA Scott Pruitt introduced a piece of legislation aimed at increasing the "transparency" of regulatory science.

The new bill would allow the EPA to disregard scientific research if the raw data underlying that research is not made publicly available. Although Pruitt is no longer head of the EPA, the agency is still planning to introduce the bill to congress come August.
