Washington, D.C. — Two bills introduced by Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici to protect Pacific Northwest coastal communities from the economic and environmental impacts of tsunami debris passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming support today.
Beaverton, OR – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici visited six schools in Columbia and Washington Counties today to talk about education policy and funding.
“This was a great opportunity for me to see first-hand how education policy is working in the classroom,” Bonamici said. “There has been a lot of discussion about curriculum, assessment, and education reform, but there is no better way to understand what’s working in a classroom than talking with students, teachers, and administrators.”
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici criticized the bill that the House of Representatives voted on today to address the “doc-fix,” the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula used to reimburse physicians who treat Medicare patients.
The bill would fix the SGR, but it also includes an amendment that delays a critical part of the Affordable Care Act, a law that is already protecting insurers from denying coverage because of pre-existing conditions and providing other critical consumer protections.
