Beaverton, OR — Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici announced eight town hall meetings June 3 - 14 across the First Congressional District.

Bonamici will provide an update on her work in Congress and take questions from residents. The town hall meetings will be held in: Portland, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Gearhart, Vernonia, McMinnville, Newberg, and Scappoose.

“These town halls are an excellent opportunity to hear directly from my constituents about the issues that they value most,” Bonamici said. “I encourage all my constituents to attend and participate.”

Beaverton, OR – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici spoke with LGBTQ seniors and advocates today about her legislation to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (OAA) and emphasized how the bill recognizes the needs of LGBTQ seniors.

Bonamici held a roundtable discussion at Friendly House in Portland to discuss the bill. Her reauthorization legislation includes new provisions for LGBTQ seniors, who are more likely to live in poverty and lack a family support system.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici announced that a panel of professional artists has selected Supriya Kapur, a student at Beaverton’s Sunset High School, as the winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition for Oregon’s 1st District.

“This year’s submissions were excellent and I thank all the talented students who submitted their work,” Bonamici said. “My office received more than 55 submissions, all demonstrating creativity and talent. The judges had a lot of great choices this year when they selected a winner.”
