Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution introduced by Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley to congratulate the Portland Thorns for winning the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League championship. A similar resolution has been introduced in the House by U.S. Reps. Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici.

It’s not fair to the defendant who’s accused of a crime and has a constitutional right to a lawyer. It’s not fair to the victims of the crime. It’s not fair to the judicial system and it’s not fair to the public in general.”

 U.S. Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici has introduced legislation aimed at tackling sprawling public defender shortages in Oregon and nationwide. The bill, titled the Ensuring Quality Access To Legal Defense Act or "EQUAL" Defense Act for short, would spread $250 million in federal grant money across the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. [11/22/22] – Today Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici announced that a team of 8th graders – Nivedha Sathish Kumar, Sahana Muthaiya, and Anusha Jeyakumar – won the 2022 Congressional App Challenge for Oregon’s First Congressional District.

Sathish Kumar and Jeyakumar are students at Stoller Middle School and Muthaiya is a student at Tumwater Middle School.
