WASHINGTON, DC [09/15/22] – Today Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) introduced legislation to promote pregnancy intention screenings.
Members of a U.S. House Education and Labor Committee panel on Thursday questioned experts and leaders of youth rehabilitation programs about how the federal government could invest in programs to prevent kids from becoming incarcerated.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi heard Oregon panelists discuss how recent federal legislation will promote carbon-free energy, create thousands of skilled jobs and help communities cope with the onset of climate change.
Oregon U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) has released two reports detailing how, under the Act, thousands of people in NW Oregon will soon spend less on health care. "These savings will make a meaningful difference in the lives of families and individuals, easing the pressure of costs that have been too high for too long," Bonamici said.
"I've worked closely with (Oregon Tradeswomen) over the years, and today I got to visit their new headquarters and see their training space," Bonamici said. "The stories I hear from the pre-apprentices and graduates show the power of workforce development programs to change lives."
U.S. Rep. Bonamici, who represents part of Portland, said:
"We will never stop fighting to protect, restore, and expand access to abortion care.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, D-Oregon, who was also at the news conference, said privacy protections need to be addressed at the federal level. She also said she's pursuing legislation to ensure that the Federal Trade Commission investigates crisis pregnancy centers for false advertising. These centers offer pregnancy testing and counseling while trying to persuade women against abortions.
