Jobs and Economy
Information regarding my stance on Jobs and Economy issues.
U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, whose congressional district encompasses those areas, said Wednesday that the benefits for the industry extend beyond the Portland region.
“We see benefits from this industry, not just here in the metro area or the Silicon Valley area,” she said. “We see them ripple across the state. The people employed in the industry – they have pride in their work. They know the power of innovation, crafting the future, and they appreciate, as we all do, the family wage jobs.”
The Labor Day 2020 fires in the state sparked more awareness about the danger fire can pose and the climate crisis in general, U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, a Democrat, said.
“We are at a crisis moment,” she said.
Bonamici said in the news release that food insecurity was a top priority for her work in Congress and that the new Urban Service Centers would help level the playing field between larger rural farms and smaller urban producers.
“Our entire region will benefit from this investment, which will build resiliency in our food system, increase access to healthy and fresh food, enhance sustainability, and boost local economies,” she said in a news release
Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici was among a group of partner agencies that recently took a walking tour of the future trail.
“Learning more about it and the amazing opportunities for people to get out in our beautiful northwest Oregon, but also economic opportunities,” said Bonamici. “We were talking about farms along the way, that they have farm stands and teach people about growing food and where our food comes from.”
