Washington, DC – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today called for bipartisan cooperation to avert sequestration and released a new report that details how the across-the-board cuts would impact Oregon. According to the report entitled “Sequestration by the Numbers - A Snapshot for Oregon,” the state would suffer nearly 12,000 job losses, and lose substantial federal funding for an array of essential programs.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici released the following statement in response to a U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announcement on the cancelation of Saturday non-package mail delivery.

“Congress should immediately take up legislation to restore six day delivery and address the United States Postal Service’s broader financial challenges. The failure to act is already threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of Oregon postal workers and diminishing the essential services the postal service must maintain to remain competitive.

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) today called for H.R. 15, the Middle Class Tax Cut Act, to be brought to the House floor for an up or down vote. The legislation will extend tax cuts on joint income up to $250,000. Without an extension, these tax cuts will expire on December 31, 2012. In Oregon, approximately 1.4 million families will see their taxes increase by an average of $1,600 if Congress does not take action.
