Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today voted against H.R. 1120; legislation that would effectively bring to a halt the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) by prohibiting the Board from carrying out any decision finalized after January 3, 2012. If this bill becomes law, it will invalidate more than 500 NLRB decisions, including a May 2012 decision to restore employer pension contributions for Oregon freight workers employed by Oak Harbor Freight lines.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today voted for the U.S. House budget proposal for fiscal year 2014 offered by Budget Committee Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). This proposal ends the sequester and adopts a balanced approach to budgeting. Unlike the austerity approach of Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget, the Democratic alternative closes tax loopholes, eliminates wasteful spending, and makes strategic investments to strengthen the economy.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) today released the following statement in reaction to House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal.

“Chairman Ryan’s budget proposal is, once again, nothing more than a fruitless exercise. Instead of a serious attempt at lawmaking, this budget repackages proposals that the American people have repeatedly rejected. This approach failed in 2011, failed in 2012 and will fail again in 2013.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-1) today reintroduced the Workforce Infrastructure for Skilled Employees (WISE) Investment Act. The legislation will establish a pilot program to provide grants to eligible workforce investment boards, community colleges, community-based organizations, apprenticeship training programs, and other vocational institutions to hire local business liaisons who will identify and analyze existing skills gaps and find ways to address them.
