Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) and Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) led a bipartisan, bicameral letter to the U.S. Army and Office of Management and Budget urging the allocation of $21.6 million of FY24 construction funding for the South Jetty at the mouth of the Columbia River. Prioritizing completion of the jetty would help protect Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon ports and businesses that rely on the navigation channel.

The Port of Astoria will receive $1 million in federal funding for preconstruction costs associated with the rehabilitation of Pier 2 in Uniontown.

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici advocated for the money as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden on Saturday.
